THE JOHNSON-THOMPSON HOUSE
Winchester, Massachusetts
Historic Renovation in Winchester
Built c.1750, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this home has the distinct title as being the oldest structure in Winchester. Together with the homeowners and Cummings Architects, Windhill embarked on a journey to salvage all of the best from this home and recreate what had been lost over time. From the newly installed pine floors with cut, hand driven nails to the authentic rustic plaster walls, to the original timber frame, this 300 year old Georgian farmhouse is a masterpiece of old and new. The most recent phase of work included the construction of a two-car garage cleverly designed as a vertical sided salt-box style barn adjacent to the main house.

“We worked with Windhill Builders to do a total renovation/addition to our 300-year-old home. From our first meeting with Shawn to the final touches, Shawn and Kevin were a pleasure to work with! We had lots of tough decisions to make building our dream home while keeping the old farmhouse character alive. Windhill worked closely with our architect and us to make it happen! Everyone Windhill brought on board to our project from plumbers, electricians, even lighting store recommendations were professional and fun to work with! I highly recommend Windhill Builders!”
